Surface run off - when rain falls onto impermeable surface
Rainfall will percolate through the pores in permeable rock or might be infiltrated into the soil
Moves downwards until it reaches the water table
Moves through ground as through flow, flows into river
Precipitation intercepted by plants and becomes stem flow - meets water table
