Q

The methods are effective

A
  1. Bed nets are cheap and prevent people from getting bitten and so cannot catch the disease
  2. Both visitors and locals can take the drugs but have to be taken regularly and are expensive

Q

And the Drainage, Insecticide?

A
  1. Draining of stagnant water areas such as puddles and swamps is effective as it reduces breeding areas but having rainfall daily in tropical areas would produce these areas all the time, time consuming and must be done daily.
  2. Insecticides such as DDT can be used to kill off mosquitos and their larvae but mosquitos become more immune all the time and DDT is harmful and banned in some areas.

Q

Egg whites?

A
  1. Use of egg whites in areas of stagnant water are used to kill off larvae through suffocation but in areas of food shortage this is regarded as a waste, especially seeing as only the whites are used and yolks get wasted.
