  • There are 4 overground stations in Hackney: Hackney downs, Hackney central,Hackney wick and Homerton. These have links to Liverpool Street station allowing greater commuter access from across London and more widely - across the UK. This facilitates businesses setting up in the area
  • Liverpool street station is only a 25 minutes on the DLR or 20 minutes by road and Liverpool Street has 6 different tube lines running through it and 4 national rain services
  • The A10 + A11 runs through Hackney vonntectung it to central and north London
  • Places such as Hackney empire, the lido and Victoria park attract many people to the area including families

  • Digital communication platforms e,g Skype and rural broadband helps to bridge the physical gap between people in rural communities
  • Teenagers in isolated communities are now able to communicate with their friends 24 hours a day influencing their indenting and meaning there is more emphasis on online identity
  • However this increase in technology means there is a new risk of a growing gap between highly connected, relatively affluent , online, residents and digitally excluded , less affluent who remain reliant on local businesses ( of which there is now less demand for)
