Human Rights Abuses Flashcards

1
Q

What are three points for agree (there is nothing you can do?)

A

Some people may disagree with me as evidently human rights have been, and continue to be abused
Being sentenced to prison is not only irrelevant; the infraction has already been committed, but also is a criticisable punishment as it allows abusers to escape justifiable punishment
Christians may follow their religious beliefs first, abusing human rights

Q

Some people may disagree with me as evidently human rights have been, and continue to be abused

A

The UN Commission on Human Rights has not eliminated all of the abuse
The death penalty is still used in countries like America, a member of the UN
It is no secret that this method of punishment is used across the world and yet it continues without prevention

Being sentenced to prison is not only irrelevant; the infraction has already been committed, but also is a criticisable punishment as it allows abusers to escape justifiable punishment

A

A man convicted of rape received lighter jail time for using a condom whilst committing the offence
The consequence of prison did not deter him from raping the woman nor did he receive fair retribution

Q

Christians may follow their religious beliefs first, abusing human rights

A

Christian terrorists bombed a Planned Parenthood clinic in Wisconsin in April 2012 in support of a pro-life movement
They disregarded the Human Rights to forcefully express their religious beliefs
Nothing could possibly stop them, emphasising the lack of protection of one’s human rights

Q

There are many precautions and negative repercussions in place to prevent human rights abuses

A

The UN Commission on Human Rights was set up to monitor signs of countries abusing human rights and to liaison with governments and other interested groups to improve the situation if needed be
Following the human rights abuses during the 1980s South African apartheid, economic sanctions were put in place
This put pressure on countries to uphold Human Rights or face undesirable consequences

Q

The threat of prison for abusing human rights is used as a deterrent and also a repercussion

This man has been punished for abusing the girl’s human rights, paying for the abuse he inflicted
He is not free from retribution
