Q

What does the endothelium express to establish weak interactions with neutrophils?

A

E and P selectin. These bind sLex on neutrophils. These are expressed on activated endothelium. Endothelium has been activated with TNFa, IL-1, or LPS.

Q

What is inside out signaling?

A

Inside out signaling is caused by a chemokine (IL-8) interacting with CXCR2. This causes the integrin on the neutrophil to change conformations. This conformational change increases the strength of the integrin.
