Q

general info adrenal medulla

A

secretes chatecholamines; located on top of kidney; neuroendocrine gland; associated with sympathetic system–modified sympathetic ganglion, with chromaffin cells–modified post gang neurons

Q

what pathways can the GPCR stimulate?

A

phospholipase C signal transduction pathway–causes increase in intracellular Ca which mediates a cell response; also PKC can mediate cell response;
adenylyl cyclase signal transduction pathway–PKA causes phosphorylaton of other proteins to cause cell response
