Who were the Judges?
The judges were not legal authorities as we would think of using tht word today.They were charismatic military leaders whom God raised up and empowered for specific tasks of deliverance.
what was the cycle used to introduce six of the Judges?
1) SIN: The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
2) WAR AND SLAVERY: The Lord sold them into the hands of the “X” nation for “X” years as judgment.
3) REPENTANCE: Israel cries out to the Lord.
4) DELIVERANCE: God raises up a deliverer, “X”, who saves them.
5) REST: The land had rest for “X” years.
The problem of Judges:
>when Joshua died, God found no one to take his place as he did when Moses died.
What does the Bible say about those days?

WHAT IS THE WARNING FOR TODAY?
the warning for today; Just as this humanistic world view lead to spiritual bankruptcy in ancient Israel, so it will lead to tjhe same thing today.

what are the Theological Purposes:
- To show Israel how easily they were influenced by the nations they did not drive out and destroy.
- To show why Israel they were beaten and made servants of other nations.
- To show the severity of the kind of apostasy they were capable of.

chapter 2 records the transition of the godly to the ungodly generation.
WHAT FAILURE DOES JUDGES RECORD?
Judges records the failure of the theocracy (rule directly under God) due to their lack of faith and obedience.

JUDGES;
WHY did God cut down Gideon’s army from 32,000 to 22,000 and finally to 300?
God said specifically mentioned that he cut down the number of Israeli soldiers for the purpose of forcing them to understand that they could not boast that they accomplished this victory by themselves but only through the power of God.
Judges;
Who used a fleece ( a divine sign)?
and what is the warnings about it?
Gideon and Abraham’s servant use a fleece, when seeking a bride for Isaac. and it seems to come from people of limited spiritual maturity.
THE WARNING IS:
if taking Scripture as a whole, it would seem that as one’s relationship with God deepens, the need for such prayers is reduced.

what is 2nd warning about using a fleece?
Gideon uses a fleece twice and is reassured concerning his call by God (6:36-40).
2nd WARNING IS:
Using a fleece can easily degenerate into an unhealthy forms of shamanism. As these forms of prayer rarely occur in Scripture it is probable that God intends that they should be rare in our lives as well, otherwise they could ber abused and used as “charms” to “conjure” an answer from God. This can reduce the relational aspect of prayer to simple button-pushing.

Ruth, the Moabite, becomes the second “foreigner” (along with Rahab) to become a part of the genealogy of the Messiah.

Kinsman-Redeemer as a type of Christ.
what were the requirement and the fulfillment in Christ?
THE REQUIREMENTS
1) Must be a blood relative
2) Be able to purchase forfeited inheritance.
3) Be willing to buy back the forfeited inheritance
4) Be willing to marry the wife of the deceased kinsman.
FULFILLMENT IN CHRIST:
1) Christ born of a woman
2) Christ had to merit to pay the price for sinners
3) Christ willingly laid down his life
4) The Church became the B ride of Christ
