• Nick is amazed by the size of Daisy’s house and the purposelessness of their lives
• Nick feels disgusted and unsettled by the lives of Tom, Daisy and Jordan
• On his return home, Nick spots his neighbour Gatsby for the first time who is standing w his hand outstretched towards a green light at the end of a dock across the bay and he appears to be trembling
