Spinal Reflex - My Notes Flashcards

1
Q

Explain the spinal Reflex

A

An automatic response initiated by neurons in the spinal cord instead of brain. Sensory receptors detect the pain. Sensory neurons start to transmit pain information to the brain. Once the information reaches the spinal cord, interneurons activate the spinal Reflex. Motor neurons activated by the interneurons in spinal cord start transmitting information with the response action to effects. The motor information reaches the effectors and the action is performed. Meanwhile sensory neurons continue transmitting pain information to the brain. The brain registers the pain at the receptor site.
