A nutrient is a substance needed to stay alive and healthy.
What are the seven different kinds of nutrients?
Carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, minerals, vitamins, fibre and water.
What use is a carbohydrate in the body?
it provides energy.
what use is a protein in the body?
for growth and repair.
what use is lipids in the body?
to provide and store energy in the body.
what use is minerals and vitamins in the body?
to maintain health.
What is an imbalanced or poor diet?
it is when you have too much or too little of a particular nutrient.
what can iron deficiency cause?
anaemia.
what nutrients is found in pasta and rice?
carbohydrate.
what happens if you don’t eat enough?
starvation
what happens if you eat too much?
obesity
what are the units of energy?
joules.
what can deficiency in vitamin A cause?
blindness
what nutrient cannot be digested?
Fibre.
