The Nervous System Flashcards
What is the function of the sensory system?
To allow us to respond to body function and the environment.
What organs are involved in this system?
Brain, spinal cord, nerve cells.
What is another name for a nerve cell?
Neuron.
What does the endocrine system do?
Releases hormones into blood to keep equilibrium or homeostasis.
What is homeostasis?
Equilibrium, keeping balance in the body.
The brain in divided into three main parts?
Brain stem, cerebellum and cerebrum.
Brain stem = breathing, digestion, unaware functions.
Cerebellum = balance and control
Cerebrum = feeling, memory, thinking
Nervous system has two main divisions for controlling body function. What are they?
