Medial Cutaneous n of the arm Medial Pectoral Nerve Medial Cutaneous n of forearm Medial Root of the MEdian nerve Ulnar nerve
BRACHIAL PLEXUS POSTERIOR CORD NERVES
Axillary Nerve
Upper and Lower Subscapular nerve
Thoracodorsal Nerve
Radial Nerve
Long Thoracic Nerve
C5-C7
Innervates the Serratus Anterior
Usually injured during surgery around the axilla
Winged Scapula and limited overhead use and abduction
Axillary Nerve
C5-C6
Innervates the deltoid muscle (major abductor)
Sensory on skin over deltoid
Injured during dislocation
Musculocutaneous Nerver
C5-C7
Innervates Coracobrachialis, biceps, brachialis
Sensory of Lateral cutaneous
Radial Nerve
C5-T1
Innervates Posterior muscles of forearm to extend elbow and wrist, also supination.
presentation depends on where injury occurs
Crutch Injury/saturday night palsy if upward pressure in armpit
midshaft humerus leads to sensory and wrist extension
Median Nerve
C5-T1
Innervates muscles of anterior forearm and thenars + 1st and 2nd lumbricals
Pronates the forearm and flexes the wrist
APE HAND (cant use thenar muscles)
Sign Of Benediction (cant flex digits 2,3) (proximal)
Median Claw (Resting claw hand from distal injury)
What sensory group is spared in carpal tunnel syndrome
Thenar sensation (nerve runs outside of tunnel)
Ulnar Nerve
C8-T1
Also has a claw
throwing sport injury
Hook of hamate injuries
Erb Palsy
Upper Brachial Plexus Injury
C5C6 Roots
From trauma or difficult birth
Waiters tip position
Klumpke Palsy
Lower Brachial Plexus Lesion
Think of a guy grabbing at tree limb while falling
