- can hop, skip and jump confidently

- some can ride a 2 wheel bike

- hold pencil in an adult way (tripod grasp)
- can write a number of letters of similar size
- they can write their first and second name and write simple stories
- they can build a tall, straight tower

- recognised numbers up to 100 and do simple calculations
- develop and understanding of length, distance, time weight
- are able to tell the difference between fantasy and reality
- understand basic scientific principles
- can be reasoned with

language and communication - at 6 years
A
- can pronounce the majority of sounds of their own language
- calk fluently and with confidence and asks who, when, where, why questions
- can remember nursery rhymes and song, enjoys jokes and riddles
- can read, but may still enjoy stories being read to them
- can use language to reason and to explain

emotional - at 6 years
A
- children start to compare themselves with others
- their self-concept and self-esteem is developing
- they are more aware of the feelings of others
- their confidence maybe shaken by failure

- have strong friendships usually of the same gender who they choose because of their personality and interests
- can carry out simple tasks such as peeling vegetables, hanging up clothes and tidying
- can hold long conversations with another child or adult
