Assignment 1.) Flashcards
What is an autotroph?
An organism that is able to form nutritional organic substances from a simple inorganic substances such as carbon dioxide.
What is a hererotroph
A hererotroph is an organism that ingests or absorbs organic carbon in order to be able to produce energy and synthesize compounds to maintain its life.
Photosynthesis.
A process in which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water photosynthesis implants generally involves the green pigment chlorophyll and generate oxygen as a byproduct
What do ADP and ATP stand for?
Adenosine Triphosphate.
Adenosine Diphosphate
What is the difference between ADP and ATP
One has 3 phosphates and one has 2. It’s kind of like a battery that has lost some of its charge.
What is the functions of ATP cells?
Carrier and regulation storage unit of energy.
3 parts of ATP
Adenine,ribose, three phosphate groups.
What is the equation for Photosynthesis.
6CO2 + 6H2O —> C6H12O6 + 6O2
What are the reactants for photosynthesis.
Carbon dioxide, water and sunlight.
