האינדיקציות לשימוש במש- העלאה בחוזק של התיקון.
החסרון העיקרי- גוף זר, הגוף יכול להגיב לו- תגובה דלקתית, זיהום, יכול לעבור דחייה. חסרון נוסף- אם ההרניה קשורה לבטן- אם מניחים את המש בתוך חלל הבטן- יכול להיגרם נזק לסרוזה של המעי- הידבקויות וסיבוכים נוספים.
