- A large group of Cuban exiles from Florida who had trained with the CIA would launch an invasion with the help of the US Airforce

- Kennedy changed his mind about using the airforce and the exiles where left exposed
- 200/ 1500 killed and 1197 captured
- Americas involvement was illegal under international law and left them to criticism

It was dangerous as Kennedy was heading into the Vienna summit was Khrushchev. Ot pushed Cuba closer to the USSR
