What is the Mechanism of action of PPIs?
A
Reduce gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting H+/K+ ATPase in gastric parietal cells. The advantage of inhbiting the proton pump is that it almost completely inhibits gastric acid secretion

- GI disturbance
- Headache
- Increased risk of C. diff infection
