The Potenkin mutinied. (One of the Russian Black Sea ships)
The mutiny began due to a mouldy meat ration.
The ship sailed to Odessa where troops fired on the townsfolk who had come to the harbour to show their support with the sailors. 2,000 were killed.
The Potenkin escaped and found refuge in Romania.

Although most of the Army remained loyal to the Tsar (crucial if he was to remain in power), some peasant conscripts refused to fire on peasants revolting

Military reforms were introduced.
This included better food, a pay increase and their terms of service reduced.
