Tell us about the Data Protection Act 2018 / GDPR.

A

It highlights key ‘Data Protection Principles’ that companies must follow.

  • Used fairly, lawfully and transparently!!!
  • Used for specified purposes
  • Is relevant and limited to only what is necessary
  • Is accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date
  • Not kept for longer than is necessary (storage limitations)
  • Ensures appropriate security

There is stronger legal protection for more sensitive information, such as…

  • race & ethnic background.

What are the penalties for breach of data protection?

A

It depends on the nature of the breach.

There are two tiers of fines imposed upon organisations:

  1. Up to €10 million or 2% of annual global turnover, whichever is greater
  2. Up to €20 million or 4% of annual global turnover, whichever is greater

What does the BCIS stand for? What is it? What do you know about the indices?

A

Building Cost Information Service

It is the leading provider of cost and price information in the industry

The indices are used to calculate X1 inflation. You use different indices depending on what the works are. Includes labour, plant, concrete, fuel. On my package there are Weighted Price Adjustment Factors (PAF) and you factor in the current date to the base date.

Why is it important to manage contractual communications? Also link to project success?

A

So that everything is captured in writing. There is a record and audit trial to ensure no Disallowed Cost.

NEC3 Cl 13 is about communications which states the method of communications on the project is in the WI, which is CEMAR.
