Common causes of Sensorineural hearing impairment

A

Presbycusis (Normal hearing loss due to ageing)

Long term exposure to excessive noise

Congenital disorders

Meniere’s disease (Inner ear condition causing vertigo, hearing loss and tinnitus)

Ototoxic drugs (drugs that can cause hearing loss, i.e. chemotherapy, diuretics)

Systemic infections such as mumps, herpes, meningitis, syphilis.
