Dash 1 Sxn 3 Flashcards

1
Q

Hydr Malfunction Caution lts illuminated

A

Low hydr px:
Avoid zero/negative G flight, land as soon as possible.

Overtemp (high or norm px):
Shutdown affected engine.
Land as soon as possible.

N/W/C: With dual hydr fail, eject. Stick feedback is artificial. If one sys reads 0, hydr sys Xfer can occur, flt time may be limited to 35 min. Pin gear if utility sys depleted.

If shutting down right engine, check cross before then leave gen off. If not good then consider flaps 60%, trim for level flt at appch speed. If caution lt goes out can restart the engine but should leave for max time off to allow best hydr fluid cooling.

Q

Excessive Hydr Px (no caution lt)

A

Shutdown affected engine if have sluggish flt ctrls and land as soon as possible. Sluggish flt ctrls are slow/erratic response to normal inputs. If seals continue to expand, ctrls may bind and should consider ejection.

Other Notes: Steady state hydr px higher than 3200 psi is a sys malf. FF on an inop engine may read as high as 60 pph. If utility px depleted, pin gear before exit rwy. Do not delay ejection with dual hydr sys fail–flt ctrls are not working despite artificial stick feedback.

Q

Gearbox Fail-Airframe Mounted

A

Will get simultaneous illum of LEFT/RIGHT GENERATOR and UTILITY/FLIGHT HYDRAULIC lights. Disengage throttle gate and shutdown affected engine.

N/C/W:
EED FF may show as high as 60 pph on shutdown engine. With dual hydr fail, eject. Dual hydr fail will result in total loss of hydraulics and AC electrical power

Q

Normally sufficient fuel flow gravity fed up to what point?

A

25,000’ but only guaranteed to 6,000, flameouts have occurred as low as 7000’ MSL

Q

To prevent fuel starvation/flameout do not do what?

A

1) . MAX thrust dives with less than #650 of fuel in either system
2) . MAX thrust power in 0 G flight or at negative load factors exceeding 10 s at 10,000’ or 30 s at 30,000’

Q

Recommend not crossfeeding for what situations:

A
BELLL acronym
B-boost pump inoperative
E-EED/fuel qty fail
L-Leak in fuel sys
L-Low altitude
L-Low fuel (dual engine)

Q

What should you do when approx #250 or less in the system?

A

Not maintain a nose-down attitude for extended periods but transit to pitch up to refill the boost pump sump

Q

Fuel Qty Ind and Low Level Caution Lt System Malfunction

A

Fuel qty-mtr
Land as soon as practical

N/C/W: do not attempt crossfeed with a fuel qty ind inop

Q

Low Fuel Px Light Illum/Fuel Leak

A

Indicated by Lt/Rt fuel px light on
Crossfeed switch-on
If light stays on may have a leak or sensor malf so turn crossfeed off

If fuel leak confirmed, shutdown affected engine and turn off its boost pump and land as soon as possible.

Can only check boost pump CB if dual but can reset ONLY ONCE. Can pull and reset only once.

To reduce possibility of fuel starvation descend below 25,000’ and reduce power and turn crossfeed off

Q

Low Fuel Px Light Illum/Fuel Leak N/C/W

A

Could have lost boost pump, gen phase fail, fuel line leak, surging of engine driven pump like in AB ops.
Int fuel leak could cause explosion–ex

Q

Gen Fail (in flt, good cross)

A

Can attempt to reset the gen, then reset rpm on other side of shift rg 65-75% and reattempt reset
