What is Individual Responsibility?

A

The responsibility to work in accordance to minimum standards and safety standards. ‘Responsible for ensuring work is performed and recorded in satisfactory manner’

A

When the groups individuals feel collectively responsible for the work they produce ensuring it is ‘safe’.
However, can result in diffusion of responsibility.

What is ‘Diffusion of Responsibility?’

A

Where no one in a group feels personally responsible for the groups safety and feel ‘it’s someone else’s responsibility’

What is Intergroup Conflict?

A

This is when cohesive teams form rivalries with other cohesive teams refusing to share responsibilities. This may be between shifts or company departments

A

Its the phenomenon where as a group take a more extreme (risky) option than there own opinion. Often amplified by Peer Pressure. Known as the risky shift

A

Is when a group prefers to make a quick unanimous decision than to consider all steps and consequences. This may be due to Peer Pressure from one or more members of the group

A

The tendency for some individuals to work less hard on tasks when they believe others are working on it.

A

The theory that needs lower down the hierarchy are more primitive and basic (Physiological and Safety) need to be stimulated before higher needs can be motivated.
