Q

If step 2 of the charging valve procedure doesn’t work, what is the drivers duties?

A

Leave the brake in step 7 and BVIC open
Go to another cab and open the BVIC and charge from the other cab
Cut out in the second cab (apply and isolate) and look to ensure the brake pipe is charging from the lead cab via the gauges in the second cab

10
Q

With a loss of overhead power and a driver needs to brake immediately, what would the driver be required to do and why?

A

14
Q

How would you tell the difference between a leak in the brake pipe and a defective regulating valve?

A

Charge the brake pipe and close the BVIC
If air depletes it is a ruptured brake pipe
If it stays at a pressure less then 550kpa it is the regulating valve

Q

If the brake pipe pressure doesn’t fall after the BVIC is closed what is the next steps?

A

Brake into emergency
Open BVIC
Handle to release
If it does not charge to 550kpa the regulating valve is defective

16
Q

What KPA range in the brake pipe is permissible for operation?

A

425-550kpa and it is suggested to use the EP unless a fault is found on the ep/rheo

17
Q

If the brake pipe won’t charge above 425KPA what is the procedure?

A

Train disabled

18
Q

Can a train still be driven when the brake handle is moving up the service zone to a higher notch of braking?

A

Yes but submit a tmm

19
Q

If the brake handle is moving to the release position, what is the procedure?

A

Run on the air

Submit tmm

20
Q

At what percentage should a brake block be reported as worn?

A

10% worn

21
Q

Is a train able to come into service at 10% worn?

A

Yes

22
Q

When would a brake block be deemed not fit for service?

A

When the backing plate is showing, in this case we isolate the bogie and report it

23
Q

At what percentage of the total surface area of a brake block needs to be addressed?

A

50% and the bogie just be isolated and a TMM filed

24
Q

What measurement should brake piston travels be?

A

30-65mm

25
Q

What circuit breaker affects the train lined spring park brakes?

A

Compressor governor circuit breaker

26
Q

If the emergency application valve fails, what do we isolate?

A

Red Ec
