Q

What is the procedure if the reverser trips in forward, neutral and reverse?

A

Try for power
If it trips in forward neutral or reverse then it is the reverser
Reverser is not energised unless the master controller is activated

Q

Can a train be brought into service with a fault in the train lined pantograph buttons down tripping the control circuit breaker?

10
Q

How do we find and isolate the train lined pantograph down fault for the control circuit breaker?

A

Lower and isolate each pantograph starting with the lead
Push the pantograph down button
If the control circuit breaker keeps tripping, continue down the train until you find the pantograph that is causing the fault

11
Q

How do we lower and isolate a local pantograph from the train lined pantograph buttons?

A

Local pantograph EP switch down
Turn the isolating cock in the van area
Flip the toggle switch for the pantograph to isolate
That local panto is now isolated from the train lined buttons

16
Q

With a ruptured main res, will air still be supplied to all the pneumatics on that car?

A

Yes as the main res pipe is in tact and being fed from the other cars

17
Q

If you can’t plug the automatic drain valve broken off, what is the procedure we revert too?

A
Blank the pipe so brake cylinders don’t bleed
Ruptured main res tank
Isolate main res delivery
Isolate compressor contactor
Release spring park brake
Isolate compressor governor cb
18
Q

If a lead motor has a ruptured main res pipe, is a competent employee needed?

A

Yes as we need the competent employee to charge our brake pipe from another motor

19
Q

If a lead motor has a ruptured main res pipe and it cannot be plugged, what is the procedure?

A
Close main res cocks
Lower and isolate pantograph
Isolate compressor governor CB
Cut out motors
Isolate door loop bypass
Manually release spring park brake
Trip ep circuit breaker
20
Q

If a lead motor has a ruptured main res pipe, where does the driver power and brake from?

A

Lead motor but with BVIC closed as the air to charging valve will leak out of the rupture

21
Q

If a lead motor has a ruptured main res pipe, what is the speed restriction?

A

15km/h due to emergency brake only and having the BVIC closed

22
Q

If a other motor has a ruptured main res pipe, what is the speed restriction?

A

Half track speed to a maximum of 30 due to deflated air bags

23
Q

If a rear motor has a ruptured main res pipe, is a competent employee needed?

A

No as driver is powering and braking from the lead and has a graduated brake due to open BVIC

24
Q

If a other motor has a ruptured main res pipe, what is the full procedure?

A
Attempt to plug
If unable close end cocks
Lower and isolate pantograph
Trip out compressor governor cb
Trip out EP circuit breaker
Cut motors out
Isolate door loop bypass
Drive and power from front
No CE required
Half track speed to a maximum of 30 due to no air bags
25
Q

If a trailer car has a ruptured main res pipe, what’s the procedure?

A
Try to plug
If not close main res end cocks to that car
Trip EP circuit breaker
Isolate door loop bypass
Half track speed to a maximum of 30
26
Q

Why is the speed restriction half track speed to a maximum of 30 with a ruptured main res pipe in a trailer?

A

Because we lose airbags on top of doors and brakes

27
Q

What is the procedure for a D wire tripping the circuit breaker?

A
Put the reverser to off
Isolate the local rheo
Trip ep circuit breaker
Try forward neutral and reverse again
If that fails
Train disabled
