Ethics Flashcards

Q

Gifts

A

Zero tolerance gift policy. This includes food, and obvious monetary gifts. So if I’m at a parolees house don’t even take food or drink from them. Any gift baskets of food mailed can’t take it, even though it’s probably innocuous. U must decline it in person and then tell your boss what happened and email the ELO(ethics liaison officer). If it’s mailed to me, don’t take it, give it to my boss, email my ELO(ethics liaison officer).

Obviously monetary and obvious gifts are a no no

Q

Undue familiarity

A

Don’t be too friendly, let alone sexual, with a parolee. There will be no communication that’s outside the normal business supervision stuff with them. They’re nothing more than a parolee to u. Undue familiarity leads to termination

Q

Falsification

A

This is when u change or lie about your time (hours) worked then you’ll get a falsification. If u get this, you can’t testify as a LEO. So that’s really bad. You may not get terminated but that’s bad

Or if you lie to OPS

Q

Recusal forms

A

This is when a parolee pops up on your caseload and u see a conflict of interest. U tell your boss and fill out one of these forms that goes to employee relations. You gotta give them more than, “I know the name” give them a good reason why. Maybe a friend of a friend, an enemy or a friendly acquaintance
