Spatial Neglect causes

A

stroke or TBI, most commonly to the back area of the parietal lobe of the right hemisphere
-> Parietal lobe has an important role in attention and conscious awareness of objects and self.

Spatial neglect symptoms

A

-> Forgetting/ignoring left side
-> feelings of alienation from left side of body
-> Bumping into objects with the left side of body
-> Compensation: inferring stimulus belongs to right side (hearing, clock with all numbers on the right).
