When is the Emer Gen Test pb used, how is it pressed and what happens when the Emer Gen Test is pushed?

A
  1. Used by maintenance only to test the Emergency Generator
  2. Press and held
  3. If pushed:
    A. If battery only supplied: then the Static Inverter powers the AC ESS BUS
    B. If the AC busses are supplied:
    B.1. Emergency Gen is driven by the blue hydraulic pump (if it is running)
    B.2. The AC ESS BUS and DC ESS BUS are connected to the Emergency Generator
    B.3. ECAM displays the ELEC page automatically

GEN 1 LINE, when is the smoke light lit and what happens when it is in the OFF position? When is OFF used?

A

Smoke Light is lit, when smoke is detected in the ventilation duct

OFF:
Gen 1 line contactor opens AC BUS 1 is supplied by GEN 2 via the bus tie contactors.

Used in smoke drills

RAT & EMER GEN. Is this a pb? When does Fault in red come on and what needs to be done?

A

Not a push button.

Comes on in red if the emergency generator fails to supply power in the event AC BUS 1 and 2 are not powered. The RAT must now be deployed.

MAN ON button, On and Auto?

A

On - Pressed Manually, the Rat is extended after 3 seconds

Auto
If AC BUS 1 and 2 fail and the speed is above
*140, the Rat extends automatically and powers the Blue hydraulic system which drives the Emergency Generator

*some newer aircrafts: 125 or 100kts
