2
Q

Define critical field length

A

Total runway length required to accelerate with both engines operating to critical engine failure speed, have an engine failure and either continue to SETOS (approx 700’ from start of rot at SETOS) or stop in same distance

Q

Define refusal speed

A

Max speed to which the aircraft is able to accel in MAX with both engines operating and abort. There is an RS-BEO and RS-EF (both engines operating and engine failure)

Q

Define SETOS

A

Speed at which the ac is able to climb, once clear of the ground effect, at a minimum of 100’/NM with gear down, flaps 60%

Q

Define decision speed (DS)

A

Min speed at which the ac is able to experience instantaneous engine fail and still accel to SETOS and takeoff in the remaining runway

Q

What are RS assumptions?

A

3 s to recognize and pull throttles to idle
Wheel braking not used w aerobraking, applied when NW on grd in 2 s
Accel continues at MAX with either one windmilling or both still at MAX
Nosewheel stays off rwy until 120 kts then settles at 120 kts
Attitude of 7.5 deg NH held if rotated
During BEO both engines produce idle thrust; during EF one is windmilling
Aerobrake not assumed
Braking cautious 135 to 100, optimum at 100

Q

What are SETOS assumptions?

A
  • Rotation is started at SETOS during single engine TO
  • Min SETOS is 2-engine takeoff speed
  • Accel to SETOS in 3 pt attitude
  • Delaying rotation improves performance
  • Best rate of climb with gear, flaps 60% is 200 kts at #12,800 220 kts with gr dn flaps up

Q

What are CEFS assumptions?

A

DS assumptions apply if accel to SETOS
RS assumptions apply if aborting
CEFS valid up to SETOS

Q

What are DS assumptions?

A
  • 3 sec delay to react, in which engines stay one MAX other windmilling
  • if ac hits rotation speed during time, rotation attitude is set
  • after 3 sec ac maintains or returns to a 3 point attitude to accel to SETOS w neutral stick

16
Q

What are MACS assumptions?

A

Allows for variation in technique, engine trim, throttle setting (3 T’s)
Subtract 3 kts from NACS for each 1000’ in excess of CFL, not to exceed 10 kts

17
Q

If you have a remote BAK-15 how does go/no-go work?

A

DS<=EF. EF is go/no-go.

DS>EF. TOS is go/no-go with OG approval and rated pilot on TO

18
Q

If you have a raisedBAK-15 how does go/no-go work?

A

DS<=EF, EF is go/no-go must be done by rated pilot if CFL w/in 1000’ of RL
DS>EF, SETOS is go/no-go but OG approval, rated pilot, delay rot until 155 kts, ensure NW liftoff by 174 kts

19
Q

If you have no BAK-15 how does go/no-go work?

A

DS<=BEO, go/no-go is BEO
DS>BEO, EF is go/no-go with OG approval and rated pilot
DS>EF, PROHIBITED TAKEOFF
