On vertical profile means correcting with bracketing maneuvers that do not exceed:

  • +- 300 FPM
  • Sustained vertical speed >1200 FPM
  • +- 1°
  • Within the VNAV vertical limits (if applicable)

Approach / Lateral Limits

Visual … Aircraft is continuously in a position from which a descent to landing can be made using normal maneuvers and unless charted otherwise, lined-up on final approach no later than approximately 2 NM

ILS/LOC/BC … Remain within 1 dot of LOC course deviation

RNAV … Within lateral guidance limits for RNAV

VOR/NDB … Remain within 5° of the published course or 1 dot of CDI course displacement

Touchdown Zone

A

Go-around is required if a landing cannot be made in the Touchdown Zone. Unless modified by an airport information page (10-7), the touchdown zone is the first 3,000’ of runway past the threshold or the first 1/3 of the usable runway length, whichever is shorter
