Mostly in the duodenum and jejunum, but chemical bonds are broken in the stomach.
Which minerals are primarily absorbed in the duodenum?
Calcium, selenium, magnesium, chromium, iron, manganese, zinc.
Which vitamins and nutrients are absorbed in the jejunum?
B vitamins, biotin, vitamin C, choline, inositol, calcium, magnesium.
Where is vitamin B12 absorbed?
In the ileum.
When should most water-soluble vitamins be taken?
With food.
Why are most B vitamins contraindicated in the evening?
They may cause or worsen insomnia (except B6).
When should fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) and CoQ10 be taken?
With food containing fat.
How should essential fatty acids be taken?
With food, avoiding high amounts of opposing fats (e.g., omega-3 not with high omega-6).
When is the best time to take amino acids?
With carbohydrate or on an empty stomach.
