Describe the 4 step process of the parliamentary process of making laws
Collection of proposals are put together through consultation in the form of a Green Paper
Firm Proposals are then put forward in a White Paper
A bill enters parliament and proceeds through both the House of
Commons and the House of Lords
Finally Royal Assent must be given to enable the bill to become law
How does the Judiciary create law?
The judiciary either create the sentencing precedent with a unique case or have to follow a previous one
What is the Literal Rule?
The literal, dictionary definition of the law is
used
What is the Golden Rule?
The literal rule would be too absurd therefore small amendments must be made to make the law clearer
What is the Mischief Rule?
The judge may rework the law, attempting to fix something broken or ambiguous within the law
