women must often treck long distances to collect water and then carry back. they may have to do multiple trips daily. this reduces their ability to PARTICIPATE IN THE LIFE OF THE COMMUNITY, being unable to pursue education or paid employment. this afects the economy and reducing the capacity of governments to provide resources required for a DECENT STANDARD OF LIVING, such as health care
