What are acute coronary syndromes (ACSs)?
Cardiac conditions caused by an abrupt reduction in blood flow through a coronary artery.
What are the three major types of ACSs?
- Unstable angina
- Non–ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI)
- ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)
What are common chief complaints in a patient experiencing an ACS?
- Chest discomfort
- Dyspnea
- Fainting
- Palpitations
- Fatigue
What should you ask a patient with multiple symptoms of ACS?
Which symptom started first and which bothers him or her the most.
