Adaption Flashcards
To Be Able To Define And Explain Features Of Adaption (7 cards)
What is an Adaption?
An Adaptation is a feature that helps an Organism to Survive in a particular Environment.
What is a Predator?
A Predator is an Animal which will hunt and kill another Animal for Food. A Predator will have
Adaptations to help it successfully catch the Prey.
What is Prey?
Prey is an Animal which is hunted by a Predator as Food. A Prey will have Adaptation to help it
successfully escape capture from the Predator.
What are some Plant Adaptations that help them to carry out Photosynthesis?
Some Plant Adaptations that help them to carry out Photosynthesis are features such as an increased surface area for more light absorption, many chloroplasts to absorb more light, and they might have lots of stomata and air spaces inside for more diffusion of carbon dioxide.
What is a way Plants are Adapted to absorb Water?
Plants are Adapted to absorb Water by having Root Hair Cells along the Roots. They have a long,
hair like projection which increases the surface area, meaning more Water can be absorbed at one
time, increasing Water Absorption.
How is Water Absorbed by Plants?
Water is Absorbed by the Root of the Plant, moves up the Stem, through the Leaf and out the Stomata in a
Continuous Stream.
What is Evolution by Natural Selection?
Evolution by Natural Selection is the process by which Living Things change over time, often resulting
in new Adaptations. Darwin published this theory.
