Additional Concepts Flashcards
(7 cards)
Linear perspective
People tend to overestimate vertical distances
Implies that objects that are further away will appear closer together
Occlusion
Objects that are occluded by other objects are positioned further from the observer than the occluding objects
Relative size
As objects are further away, they appear smaller.
Therefore, in the case of a group of similar objects, their optic size specifies their distance
Height in the visual field
Objects that are further away are positioned higher in the visual field
Texture gradient
The texture density increases as the distance increases, thus specifying increasing distance
Relative brightness
Objects further away tend to appear less bright
Invariant horizon ratio
Objects of the same size are cut by the horizon according to the same ratio
