Aerodynamics Flashcards
(5 cards)
Slow Flight
Impending Stall
Effects:- Airspeed decreases (5-10 knots above stall speed)- “Mushy” controls- Flying at the backside of the curve
Importance:
✔To recognize characteristics of flight at a very low airspeed
✔Perform configurations appropriate for takeoffs, climbs, descents, approaches, landing and go-arounds
Aerodynamic Stall
An aerodynamic loss of lift caused by exceeding the critical angle of attack.
Stall Recognition:
▪ High Angle of Attack
▪ Low Airspeed
▪ Buffeting or shaking
▪ Unusual yoke position
▪ Stall warning horn
Stall Recovery
✔Reduce the angle of attack
✔Add power to increase thrust
✔Climb to recover altitude loss
Spins
an aggravated stall that results in an airplane descending in a helical, or corkscrew path
