To postpone the pending question in such a way that its consideration may be resumed at the will of the group
Postpone definitely
To delay action until a definite time
Postpone indefinitely
Not to postpone but to reject the main motion without incurring the risk of a direct vote on it
Previous question
Bring the assembly to a vote without delay
Refer to a committee
To allow a question to be more carefully investigated before the group takes action.
Incidental Motions
Are used to provide proper and fair treatment to all members
Appeal
An appeal may be of any decision made by the chair at the time of the ruling
Division of assembly
Division of assembly is a motion related to voting
Parliamentary inquiry
The motion that relates to a question that requires immediate attention and may be made while another has the floor
Point of order
This motion is used when a member believes a parliamentary error has been made
Privileged/Unclassified
Privilege motions are unrelated to the main motion
Ajournment
A adjourn motion is used when it is time to close a meeting
Questions of privilege
A question of a privilege motion pertains to the rights and privileges of the assembly or to any of its members
Recess
A recess is an intermission in the day’s proceedings
