What is Agenda-Setting Theory?
The idea that the media doesn’t tell us what to think, but what to think about by highlighting certain issues.
What is first-level agenda setting?
Media decides what topics are important by emphasizing certain stories over others.
What is second-level agenda setting?
Media shapes how we think about those topics through framing.
What is priming in agenda-setting?
Repeated media exposure to an issue makes it more salient in people’s minds.
