the government stopped all financial support to farmers and this happeended at the same time as prices for agricultural goods fell.
consequently many farm workers lost there jobs or had wages cut and the 1921 census shows that the number of male farm workers in scotland had fallen a great deal

there was an increase in prosperity and for many there wages rose - in some parts of scotland by 150%

A

there was a shortage of farm workers on many Scottish farms due to so many young men joining up however women, older men, younger boys, prisoners and conscientious objectors were all used as farm workers to replace them
