What is structured relapse prevention and goal of it
a short term treatment based on a cognitive behavioural approach
goal- abstience or moderation drinking
early sessions of strured relase prevention
- Identify high risk situations (urges/temptations to use, social pressures to use etc)
- monitor and identify coping strats and evaluate pros and cons of chaging
Middle sessions of structured relapse prevention
look at relationship between triggers, behaviours and consequences
develop cognitive, behavioural and affective coping strats
Final sessions of structured relapse prevention
- identify warning signs for relapse
- determine thoughts/behiours that could lead to relapse
