Why are alkenes unsaturated?
Because they contain atleast one carbon-carbon double bond

What is an addition reaction?
When the carbon-carbon double bond opens up leaving a single bond and a new atom is added to each carbon
What is the addition of hydrogen to an alkene known as
Hydrogenation
What is the addition of water to an alkene known as and what does it form?
The addition of water to an alkene is known as hydration and it forms an alcohol
What is the test for saturation ?
Add bromine solution, if the bromine solution is added to a saturated compound, like an alkane, no reaction will happen, it will stay the same colour. If the bromine solution is added to an unsaturated compound, like an alkene, the solution will decolourise
If you add a halogen to an alkene what does it form?
A dihoalkanes
Eg. If you add bromine to an alkene it forms dibromoethane
