(15 cards)
How many nerve plexuses are there? and where are they found?
There are 4 nerves plexuses.
- Two are found at the cervical level: brachial and cervical plexus.
- One at the lumbar level (lumbar plexus).
- One at the sacral level (Sacral plexus).
The spinal nerve that innervates skin around the shoulder is?
C5.
The spinal nerve that innervates skin around the lateral arm and two first digits is?
C6.
The spinal nerve that innervates skin over the 3rd finger and the posterior aspect of the arm and forearm is?
C7.
The spinal nerve that innervates skin in the fourth, middle digit and fifth digits is?
C8.
The spinal nerve that innervates skin around the anteromedial shin is?
L4.
The spinal nerve that innervates skin extending down the anterolateral shin, and dorsum of the foot to the big toe is?
L5.
The spinal nerve that innervates skin in the small toe, lateral foot, sole and calf is?
S1.
The spinal nerve that innervates skin in the perineal area in a saddle like distribution is?
S2, S3, S4.
In the sacrum, spinal nerves pass through the…?
Sacral foramina.
The anterior/ventral root of the spinal nerve contain ….. to carry stimuli away from the CNS towards their target structures?
Efferent nerve fibers.
Cell bodies in the grey matter of the spinal cord contain…
Motor neurons that control skeletal muscles and Preganglionic autonomic neurons.
The posterior/dorsal root of the spinal nerve contain ….. which return sensory information from the trunk and limbs to the CNS.
Afferent nerve fibers.
What type of spinal nerve rami serve the muscles and skin of the posterior trunk?
Posterior (dorsal) ramus.
What type of spinal nerve rami travel either to the anterolateral trunk or to the limbs?
Anterior (ventral) ramus.
