Animal, Bacterial and Plant cell Flashcards
(11 cards)
What is the function of the cytoplasm in an animal cell?
The function of the cytoplasm is that its a gel like substance where most of the chemical reactions occur. it contains enzymes that control the chemical reactions
What is the function of the nucleus in an animal and plant cell?
The function of a nucleus is that it has DNA which carries the genetic code to create enzymes and other proteins used in chemical reactions such as photosynthesis and respiration
What is the function of the cell membrane in an animal and plant cell?
The function of the cell membrane is that it allows water and gases to diffuse freely in and out of the cell and controls movement of molecules
What is the function of mitochondrian in an animal and plant cell?
The function of mitochondrian is that it carries enzymes for the reactions of aerobic respiration. respiration carries energy that the cell needs to work
What is the function of ribosomes in an animal and plant cell?
Where amino acids are joined together to make proteins
What is the function of Chloroplast in the plant cell?
Contains the green pigment, chlorophyll, which absorbs light for photosynthesis, and the enzymes needed for photosynthesis.
What is the function of the cell wall in the plant cell?
Made from cellulose fibres and strengthens the cell and supports the plant.
What is the function of the vacuole in the plant cell?
Filled with cell sap to support the cell.
what is the function of the plasmid DNA in the bacterial cell
they are small loops of dna that arent a part of the chromosome. plasmids contain genes for things like drug resistance and can be passed between bacteria
what is the function of chromosomal DNA in a bacterial cell
controls the cells activity and replication
what is the function of the flagellum
it rotates to move the bacterium. it can be used to move bacteria way from harmful substances like toxins towards things like nutrients oxygen
