Animation Flashcards
Motion Capture
Motion capture is the process of recording live motion events and transferring it into actionable data that allows the recreation of motion in a digital environment.
Stop frame animation
Stop frame animation is the cinematic process of making static objects appear as if they are moving. This involves recording the position of an object then moving the object and recording the new position until the scene has been created.
Motion Tweening
This is where the user defines the start and end of key frames and the system automatically calculates the in between frames. This will move a shape across a screen perhaps following a drawn path.
Blend/Fade
Refers to a transition effect when a film dissolves from one scene to another. Fade to black is a common technique used to soften the transitions between scenes
Zoom
Zoom can be used to focus in on a particular area within a scene t draw the audiences attention.
Transition
Transition are techniques to combine scenes and shots. Fading and blending are examples of transitions along with wipe, dissolve, cut flip or pan.
Overlays
PIP is where two videos share the same screen at the same time. Text overlays is where static or moving written information is displayed on top of the video itself. Image overlay is where an image is displayed over a video.
Disadvantages of Motion capture
It is restricted to recreating human abilities.
Huge amount of data produced which needs to be processed.
Complex process which requires specailist software.
