Anecdote
a short account of a particular incident or event, especially of an interesting or amusing nature.
Argumentation
writing that attempts to prove the validity, of a point of view or an idea by presenting “reasoned” arguments
Allegory
a representation of an abstract or spiritual meaning through concrete or material forms; figurative treatment of one subject under the guise of another
Annotation
explanatory notes added to a text to explain, cite sources, or give bibliographic data
Synecdoche
a figure of speech in which a part is used for the whole, the whole for a part, the specific for the general, or the material for the thing made from it, “all hands on deck” is a demand for all of the crew to help, yet the word “hands”—just a part of the crew—stands in for the whole crew.
