  3. Apply pressure dressing
  4. Pressure point
  5. Hemostatic agent

When is there exception for AOH and what to do then?

A

Amputation

  1. Apply tourniquet
  2. May apply hemostatic agent
  3. Perform amputation stump dressing

What to note for direct pressure?

A

Use gloves, pressure at site of wound

A

Elevate above heart level

  1. Carotid (not recommended)
  2. Sub-clavicle
  3. Brachial

What to note for hemostatic agent?

A

Always maintain pressure on wound while packing dressing into wound (One hand always inside)

What to note for tourniquet?

A
  • Apply high and tight (flush to shoulder)
  • Twist till bleeding stops
  • Write date+time applied (DDTTTT)
  • Don’t remove once applied
  • Apply another one if first doesn’t work
