Define a Universe.
A universe contains all of space and all matter and energy that space contains.
Define a Penumbra.
Penumbra- Lighter part of a shadow
Define an Umbra.
Umbra- Darkest part of a shadow.
Define an Impact Crater.
A crater that is found on a planet or moon, created by the IMPACT of a meteorite.
Define a Revolution (of an object).
The motion of a body, traveling around another body.
Define Heliocentric.
Term for the sun being the “center” of our Solar System.
Define an Eclipse.
One space object that covers the sun, creating a shadow onto another space object.
Define a Rotation.
Spinning of a body; a planet on its axis.
Define a Light Year.
Speed light can travel in one year.
Define Genocentric.
Term for the ideology of Earth being center of our Solar System.
What is an Astronomical Unit?
Average distance between sun and the Earth.
What causes Earth to have seasons?
Earths tilt and spin on its axis
What causes Earth to have seasons?
Earths tilt and spin on its axis
Star color temperature range- coldest to hottest.
Coldest- Red
Hottest-Blue

What is the name for a cloud of dust that soon forms into a star?
Nebula ( First stage of Star )
What is the difference between Absolute Magnitude and Apparent Magnitude?
Absolute Magnitude- the brightness of stars from a standard distance
Apparent Magnitude- the brightness of stars from Earths distance.
What is the star cycle for a low-mass star?
Nebula->Low-mass star->Red Giant->White Dawrf.
What is the cycle for a High-Mass star?
Nebula-> High mass star-> Super Giant->Supernova-. Neutron or Black Hole
List the 3 conditions for a body to be a planet.
1) Body orbits the sun
2) Round due to gravity
3)clear neighborhood
Where is the Oort cloud located?
Furthest area of our solar system with trillion objects.
Where is the Kuiper belt located?
Located just past Neptune, with thousands of KBO (objects) near Pluto.
What is the difference between Meteors, Meteoroids, and Meteorites?
Meteor- Enter our atmosphere
Meteriod- In space still
Meteorite-
