A

Agonist action on benzodiazepine receptor binding sites on the GABAa receptor throughout CNS. Increases affinity of GABA therefore increasing the Cl channel opening, hyperpolarization.

Effective in limiting incidence of emergence reactions after adm of Ketamine

C/I: acute porphyrias, Hx of alcohol or substance abuse, elderly, glaucoma, & suicidal thoughts
