What is it?
A
Chaotic and irregular atrial arrhythmia

What are the risk factors?
A
Increased age, heart disease, HTN, alcohol, obesity, FH

What is the pathophysiology?
A
Electrical impulses in atria fire chaotically causing an irregular and fast rhythm

What are the investigations?
A
Bloods - FBC, TFTs, troponin
ECG (possible 24hr)
Echo

What is the management?
A
Rate control - beta blocker or CCB or digoxin
Or rhythm control - cardioversion electrically or with flecainide/amiodarone
Stroke prevention - apixaban

What are the complications?
A
Stroke
Death
Bradycardia
Drug complications

What are the ECG findings?
A
No P waves
May have wavy baseline
