What are the four classic attachment styles

A
  • secure
  • anxious-avoidant: caregivers are unresponsive or dismissive. Children learn to suppress their emotions and rely on themselves for comfort. May appear independent and self-reliant but often struggle with intimacy
  • anxious-ambivalent: care givers are inconsistent. Clinginess and difficulty exploring the environment. Very dependent of caregivers and difficulty calming themselves down. Adult with strong desire for intimacy but fear rejection
  • disorganized: confused and contradictory behaviours.
